Claire began painting portraits in the nineties, eventually specialising in dog portraiture after exhibiting her work in the United States. Subsequently, her work has become increasingly recognised throughout the UK, as has the demand for her beautiful portraits both nationally and internationally.

"Great paintings of the past fascinate me. I'm intrigued by the techniques the artists employed and the subjects they chose. I think it is so important to learn from great art and I constantly refer to the work and lives of such artists. I want my paintings to carry the essence of a traditional piece of art and I try and convey this through the techniques I use, while retaining a contemporary feel through composition."

Due to popular demand Claire now takes commissions for horses. She will also be working on her own paintings of horses, and images of these paintings will be added to the website www.claireeastgate.com over the coming months. Forthcoming ehibitions will be posted on the site.
